All conductors born between and including 1982 and 1997 are eligible to apply for the competition. Former prize winners of the Solti-Competition are not eligible to apply. Binding applications must be received by the competition office by July 15, 2016 at the latest. No application received after that date will be accepted. The application must be accompanied by the following documents (either in German or English):
- Printout of the online application form, filled out and signed
- Curriculum vitae
- Photocopies of documents evidencing applicant's musical studies and conducting experience (certificates, letters of recommendation, concert programmes, etc.)
- Links (to YouTube or similar platform) or DVD with recordings of representative conducting sessions (of concerts or operas, including rehearsals if available)
- Three different photos of recent date in high resolution (with at least one fine portrait, may also be sent by email)
- Photocopy of birth certificate or passport (with translation if necessary)
There is no admission fee for applying. If the documents will be sent from abroad, please mark value 0 (zero) on the customs declaration. Receipt by the competition office of a complete set of documents will be acknowledged and confirmed to the applicant. Please note that application documents and materials will not be returned to the applicants.
Admission and Organisation
On the basis of the applications submitted, the jury will select up to 22 candidates to participate in the Competition. Each applicant will be informed on or before October 31, 2016 whether or not he or she is invited to participate. Each applicant so invited must confirm their participation by November 15, 2016.
All participants will receive all necessary information concerning their stay in Frankfurt and the details of the Competition's organisation. Accommodation is free during the Competition; travelling costs must be borne by the participants. The order in which candidates are asked to conduct during the first round and the semi-final will be decided by lot.
The jury's deliberations and assessment of candidates are confidential. The jury has the right to interrupt rehearsals, to ask questions or to terminate a conducting session at any time. The jury's decision will be announced immediately after completion of each round. All decisions of the jury are final and not subject to appeal.
The organisers reserve the right in their free discretion to modify any part of the Competition. The organisers also reserve the right to record and broadcast any session or part thereof via radio or television. Participants waive any right they may have to any remuneration or fee for any such recording or broadcast.
By signing the Competition registration form, each applicant recognises and accepts all Competition conditions. Any recourse to the courts of law is excluded. In the event of any dispute regarding the interpretation of the Competition's conditions, the German version shall take priority. For any disputes that may arise in relation to the Competition, the courts in Frankfurt am Main/Germany shall have jurisdiction.
