Application
Conductors born between 1977 and 1992 are invited to apply for the competition. Binding applications must be received by the competition office on the enclosed form by April 4, 2012 at the latest. Any application received later will not be accepted!
They must be accompanied by the following documents (in German or English):
- Application form, filled out and signed (printout of the online application)
- Curriculum vitae
- Photocopies of documents certifying the musical studies and work performed as a conductor (certificates, letters of recommendation, concert programmes etc.)
- DVD with recordings of representative conducting sessions (concerts or operas, also rehearsals)
- Three different recent photos (can also be sent by email)
- Photocopy of the birth certificate or passport (with translation if necessary)
There is no admission fee to enter the competition. Please note that the documents will not be returned by the competition office.
Admission and Organisation
On the basis of the applications submitted, the jury will choose up to 24 candidates for participation. They will be invited by July 6, 2012 and must confirm their participation by July 25, 2012. Prize winners from previous Solti-competitions are not allowed to take part.
The participants will receive all necessary information concerning their stay in Frankfurt and the details of the competition's organisation. Accommodation is free during the competition; travelling costs must be paid by the participants.
The order of competitors in the preliminary rounds will be decided by lot.
The jury's assessment is secret. The jury has the right to interrupt the rehearsals, to ask questions and to stop the conducting session at any time. The jury's decision is final and will be announced to each participant right after the completion of each round.
The organisers reserve the right to change the order of events in the competition. Any recourse to legal action is precluded.
The organisers also reserve the right of radio and television broadcast. The competitors are not entitled to demand any charge for the utilisation of such recordings.
Other Conditions
By signing the registration for the competition, the participant recognises all conditions pertaining to the competition.
In the event of any doubt regarding the interpretation of translations of the competition rules, the German version alone shall be valid. For any disputes that may arise, Frankfurt am Main/Germany is the court of jurisdiction.
